Symah Nabeel
Hi, I’m Saima Nabeel, an artist from Lahore, Pakistan. I specialize in Islamic calligraphy and Mughal miniature painting. My art combines traditional techniques with a touch of the modern. I work with styles like Thulth, Naskh, and Riq’ah in calligraphy. For my miniatures, I draw inspiration from history and culture. My goal is to celebrate heritage while connecting it to today’s world. I believe art has the power to bring people together. Every piece I create reflects this belief. Whether it’s a painting or a calligraphy piece, my art is personal and meaningful.
My Art Philosphy
My journey as an artist began with a profound respect for the heritage that surrounds me. Based in Lahore, I dedicate my practice to two classical Islamic art forms: Islamic calligraphy and Mughal miniature painting. These are not merely aesthetic pursuits, they are conversations with history, spirituality, and the universal language of beauty.
Growing up in a city rich with artistic tradition, I was drawn to the intricate beauty of calligraphic scripts and the luminous detail of miniature paintings. What began as a personal exploration of these classical forms has evolved into a lifelong commitment to preserving these traditions while pushing them toward contemporary relevance.
Every piece I create is an attempt to answer a fundamental question: How can we honor our traditions while embracing our shared humanity? This question guides my artistic practice and informs every decision I make in my studio.
